Pilot Character Model Development

Hey everyone,

Here is some of development on the Pilot model that Aurin is currently modeling in Maya and zBrush. The Pilot design is based off a piece of concept art that our course friend Gabriel Holmes drew up for us, which you can find that in the previous post.

Above is a work in progress, modelled using zbrush and polypaint to test colours. We are aiming for the final polycount for the Pilot to be around 30k polys. There is still some things for Aurin to model into the Pilot, but hopefully by the end of this week he will have the Pilot finished. Then the Pilot can be rigged with the Unreal Animation & Rigging Toolkit and then animated.

Welcome to Scavenger!

Welcome to the Scavenger Video Game Development Blog!

We are currently in development of Scavenger, which is a third person action game. Here is some information about the game:

Scavenger takes place on an abandoned space station in the year 2607. The player plays as the pilot, who is a smuggler on on his way back to Earth from a distant star system with valuable cargo including a cloning device which is highly illegal on Earth. However the pilots ship unexpectedly crashed in an asteroid field and requires repairs.

In order for the player repair their ship they must explore the abandoned space station and find parts that they can salvage to repair their ship. The space station houses many dangers such as creatures known as the unfinished and the automated defenses of the space station. The Pilot is a confident character, and knows how to fight, as being a smuggler he has occasionally ended up in conflicts.

Upon the aftermath of the crash, the pilot discovers that he crashed near to a large abandoned ship. His only option is to explore the derelict station in the hope he can find the parts he needs to repair his ship. While exploring the spaceship, the Pilot will collect pieces of information and diary entries to uncover the story of the Engineer...
